The ‘Adriatic-Ionian region’ interregional group was established in 2023. 

Mission

This interregional group has the mission to:

  • support the EUSAIR strategy in the revision of the action plan and its implementation;
  • strengthen cooperation with other EU macro-regions on issues of common interest (tourism, transport, internationalisation of enterprises);
  • promote citizens’ ownership of the Adriatic-Ionian macro-region;
  • encourage the exchange of initiatives at local and regional level in the Ionian macro-region;
  • create synergies among the EU Member States of the macro-region (Italy, Greece, Croatia, and Slovenia), the IPA countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia – EU candidates) and the third country, the Republic of San Marino;
  • strengthen cooperation with European institutions and effectively implement EU policies and values in the area.
