Permanent staff

In order to be recruited as an official by an EU institution, you need to pass an open competition organised at the inter-institutional level by the European Personnel Selection Office.

Vacancies published by the CoR are intended for officials who are already working at the CoR or in the other institutions. Successful competition candidates may also apply if they meet the eligibility requirements set out in the notice of vacancy.

Temporary staff

The CoR sometimes employs temporary or contractstaff. This is particularly the case when a post is waiting to be filled, when a staff member is absent due to long-term illness or leave on personal grounds, or when a department has to carry out a specific task in addition to its usual work. In any event, such contracts are for a limited period.

Applicants must be from one of the EU's Member States. They must have a thorough knowledge of one of the EU's official languages and a satisfactory knowledge of at least one other of these languages.

Applicants must:

be employed by a national, regional or local public authority or IGO;

have worked for at least three years, full-time, in an administrative, scientific, technical, advisory or supervisory post;

have been in the service of their current employer for at least twelve months;

have thorough knowledge of one official language of the European Union and a satisfactory knowledge of another language of the European Union;

be under the age limit of 65 for the duration of the secondment; and

be able to prove that their employer will continue to pay their salary, maintain their established or contractual employment status and guarantee their social rights and benefits, particularly as regards social security and pension rights, throughout the period of secondment.

We would like to welcome a colleague who has got talent for writing snappy and engaging copy for a wide audience. Working in communication implies teamwork and reaching out to colleagues beyond our Unit and Directorate. Editorial skills are key as our Unit adapts the CoR's political messages to the very particularities of our social, digital and printed media channels. ADMINISTRATOR (M/F) - General Administration and Public Procurement Unit - Verification cell

Abstract: The new colleague in the financial verification cell will assume the role of Head of Sector and as such will report directly to the Head of unit. Along with the team members, he/she shall also carry out the specific duties of an ex-ante financial verifying officer in full independence. In general, the financial verifying officer's role involves verifying the legality and regularity of all proposed transactions with a budgetary impact, giving his or her opinion on the sound management of financial transactions (budgetary and legal commitments, payment orders, income and expenditure forecasts, recovery orders, etc.) and offering advice and assistance to financial agents and authorisation officers on especially complex transactions.

Abstract: Under the authority of the president, who represents the Bureau, the secretary-general of the European Committee of the Regions (hereafter referred to as the CoR) has the task of implementing the decisions taken by the Bureau or President in line with the provisions of the CoR Rules of Procedure and the current legal framework. These decisions cover, in particular, the organisation and management of the CoR secretariat-general (around 530 statutory staff and an annual budget of around EUR 100 million) so as to provide effective assistance to the CoR and its constituent bodies, and to its members, in the performance of their duties.

Abstract: The qualified temporary agent will be responsible, under the authority of the group's President and its Secretary-General, for the political preparation of the meetings of the CoR commissions, plenary sessions, and other political initiatives and for the follow-up of the inter-institutional relations. The main duties of the political advisor are to: - prepare briefings for the PES Group political coordinators; - provide support to PES rapporteurs and shadow-rapporteurs for the drafting of their opinions and for the elaboration of amendments and oral compromises; - prepare voting lists and be responsible for negotiations with the other political groups' secretariats and at administrative level; - facilitate bilateral contacts with the relevant counterparts in the European Parliament; - contribute to the organisation of events on themes of political importance for the PES Group; - contribute to the drafting of media briefing notes, press releases, communication campaigns, content for the web and for social media networks; - support the President and other CoR political leaders of the PES Group by drafting briefing notes and speeches.
