Members of the Commission for Economic Policy (ECON) will hold the 2025 external ECON commission meeting on 19 June 2025 in Klagenfurt, Austria. At this meeting, members will adopt the opinion on European Defence Readiness 2030 drawn up by rapporteur Ricardo RIO (PT/EPP) and hold exchanges of views on the AI Continent Action Plan and A European Steel and Metals Action Plan.
On the 19 and 20 June 2025, the ECON commission and the Carinthia region will jointly organise a conference on Sustainable and competitive regions in the EU. This conference will discuss how to combine competitiveness and sustainability while at the same time boosting regional attractiveness. It will provide concrete examples from Carinthia, as well as other EU regions and cities, who have experience in building fair, sustainable and competitive regions. A specific focus will be on regional innovation parks.
