The Cross-border Cooperation Interregional Group of the European Committee of the Regions was established in July 2015.

Mission

This interregional group has the mission to:

  • exchange views and experiences: The group functions as a platform for sharing insights, experiences, and best practices in promoting cross-border cooperation among CoR members from border regions;
  • influence: Leveraging the collective knowledge, the group analyses CoR opinions to identify cross-border relevance and ensure the inclusion of tailored solutions. The group collaborates closely with rapporteurs and formulates potential amendments, advocating for the integration of cross-border cooperation within cohesion policy;
  • foster dialogue: Serving as a communication platform, the group facilitates dialogue with the European Commission (DG REGIO), the European Parliament, European associations, and other stakeholders such as the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR), the Mission Opérationnelle Transfrontalière (MOT) and the Central European Service for Cross-Border Initiatives (CESCI).
