Missions:
This interregional group has the mission to:
- Promote the European Committee of the Regions' opinion on the Macro-regional Strategy for the Carpathian Region;
- Promote, build and develop partnerships between local and regional authorities, to ensure deeper integration of Carpathian communities and to identify common aims and undertakings;
- Mobilise the governments of the Carpathian states to take the initiative to create a Macro-regional Strategy for the Carpathian Region by making a formal application to the European Council;
- Organise debates, actions and projects with representatives of local authorities of the two non-EU countries sharing the Carpathian arc (Serbia and Ukraine), with the aim of including them in a future "macro-regional strategy for the Carpathian area", their cooperation being closely linked to development and security objectives of the European Union;
- Support the dialogue with the stakeholders of the Danube Strategy in order to develop complementarity of actions undertaken in the framework of the Danube Strategy and the Macro-regional Strategy for the Carpathian Region;
- Ensure a coordination mechanism between CoR members of the Carpathian region in order to guarantee a joint approach within the competent bodies of the CoR to common concerns related to EU policies;
- Take actions aimed at ensuring the EU's accession to the Carpathian Convention as a Party.
- Intensify lobbying related to the Carpathian region at EU level in order to encourage political engagement and make the macro-regional strategy a priority.
