The Commission for Citizenship, Governance, Institutional and External Affairs (CIVEX) is responsible for coordinating the Committee of the Regions' work on issues which include the future of Europe, justice and home affairs such as migration and integration, fundamental rights and freedoms, better regulation and active subsidiarity, and broader institutional issues. The commission also intensively deals with the Union's external dimension, focusing on neighbourhood and enlargement countries as well as on development cooperation from a local and regional angle.
