Climate action: it's time to deliver
The COP26 aims to bring countries together to take forward coordinated climate action
as the planet faces unprecedented heat waves, fires and floods.
Six years after the signature of the Paris Agreement, national governments must reach an agreement on the
Paris Rulebook, the set of guidelines and procedures to fully implement the
2015 Paris Agreement. Major bottlenecks still to be unlocked, in particular the transparency and accountability framework through which countries are to report on their climate goals and engage in international carbon markets. Climate mitigation and adaptation along with climate finance for the most vulnerable are topics also sitting at the front row of climate negotiations.
In close partnership with international networks, the EU's Assembly of local and regional representatives will demonstrate that cities and regions' climate commitments and achievements are crucial to succeed in reversing global warming. Beyond climate negotiations, there is an urgent need for more climate action on the ground.
