The Enlargement Day is the European Committee of the Regions' flagship event on EU enlargement policy, first held in 2015.
The raison d'ĂȘtre of this annual event is the growing realization - among the EU institutions and partner countries alike - that for a country joining the EU, it is not enough to prepare its central government and administration. In fact local and regional authorities will also need to be fully prepared for accession, as perhaps 70 per cent or more of EU legislation will have an impact on them.
The 2022 Enlargement Day is organized in co-operation with the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU.
To celebrate 2022 as the European Year of Youth, all the six sub-events of Enlargement Day also address the theme of youth.
