NAT elects Ulrika Landergren, Kungsbacka Municipal Councillor, as new Chair

The Commission for Natural Resources (NAT) of the European Committee of the Regions has elected Ulrika Landergren (SE/RE), Councillor in the Swedish municipality of Kungsbacka as its new Chair. Rural development, the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), fisheries, forestry, food production and public health are amongst the key topics on the NAT agenda for this new mandate.

Elected on February 13, Ulrika Landergren (SE/RE) declared: "I am honoured to have been elected Chair of the NAT Commission. The CoR has evolved a lot since I joined 7 years ago. I believe we can do even more and that the CoR has a huge potential to bring the EU close to the citizens via the legitimacy of all of us, the members, but also the one million representatives elected at the local and regional levels. I will work to increase the power of the CoR and the influence of the NAT commission in particular, following an all-inclusive approach and exploring innovative ways for members to contribute in the CoR and the EU project as whole.

NAT members have elected Karsten Uno Petersen (DK/PES), Regional Councillor in Syddanmark as 1st vice-chair and Radim Sršeň (CZ/ EPP), Member of the Dolní Studénky Municipal Council in the Czech Republic as 2nd vice-chair.
