The local event hosted by Mr Władysław Ortyl aims at building public trust in the use of drones at the regional and local level through their use by emergency services.
The EU's green and digital agenda underlines the need to build on new actions for more sustainable mobility and innovation to improve the efficiency of the transport sector as a whole.
Drones can serve local and regional authorities by contributing to a sustainable and integrated mobility in cities and regions, reducing pollution and congestion and increasing the safety of mobility for local communities. The drone market is one of the fastest growing sectors in the world and regions and EU cities could benefit greatly from investing in training courses for future engineers and drone operators.
The expected outcome is to provide additional input to the draft opinion of the Committee of the Regions on the Drone Strategy 2.0. Another practical result expected is a better understanding of how local and regional authorities could best promote the tools developed by the European Commission, such as a dedicated online platform to increase public acceptance of drones in their daily lives and adapt them to local realities.
