The European Committee of the Regions is delighted to invite you to our
first Green Deal Hour chat with the Mayor of Warsaw,
Rafał Trzaskowski.
What exactly is the European Green Deal and what benefits will it bring
to my community? What is the Climate Pact and how can I, as a citizen,
take part and contribute to climate-neutrality? Is the COVID-19 pushing
the climate agenda forward or backwards? What is the EU doing to
support climate action in my community?
These are some of the questions that will guide the conversation with
Rafał Trzaskowski, Mayor of Warsaw.
If you're curious about how to build a greener Europe, take this opportunity to ask your questions. Check our Facebook event page and send us your questions in the discussion!
Rafał Trzaskowski
is mayor of Warsaw since November 2018. Rafal is one of the youngest Mayors
leading an EU capital and is highly engaged in turning Warsaw into a fully
sustainable city. From the decarbonisation of public transport, to greening
urban spaces and making Warsaw's buildings more energy efficiency, Rafal is
particularly focused on engaging with citizens, local neighborhoods and
communities to boost civic participation to ensure that the path towards
the city's climate neutrality is inclusive and socially fair. Highly
engaged in EU politics, Rafal's climate action commitment goes well beyond
Polish borders. Rafal is a member of the European Committee of the Regions
since November 2019. He is the CoR
rapporteur
and ambassador of the European Climate Pact and member of the
political board
of the Covenant of Mayors. Rafal strongly advocates for the European Green
Deal to turn into direct funding for cities to implement green policies and
climate-friendly projects according to the priorities set by local
communities themselves.
