4th ENVE Commission Meeting (online meeting)  

​The ENVE Commission will hold its next meeting on 9 September 2020. Due to the current sanitary context, this meeting will be online and no access will be granted to the CoR premises.

The ENVE Commission meeting foresees a Green Deal debate on "The role of cities and regions in the green recovery and in the energy transition towards climate neutrality" with a statement by Kadri Simson, Commissioner in charge of Energy, and a debate with Christophe Rouillon (FR/PES), rapporteur on the Recovery and Resilience Facility, and Enrico Rossi (IT/PES) rapporteur on Renovation Wave in the buildings sector and opportunities for green European recovery.

During the meeting there will also take place an exchange of views on the referrals from the German Presidency, being:

  • The impact of climate change on regions: an assessment of the European Green Deal - Andries GRYFFROY (BE/EA)
  • Opportunities and synergies of a precautionary adaptation to climate change to promote sustainability and quality of life in regions and municipalities: which framework conditions are required for this? - Markku MARKKULA (FI/EPP)

The following opinions will be adopted during the meeting:

  • Bio-diverse cities and regions beyond 2020 at the UN CBD COP15 and in the next EU strategy, Roby BIWER (LU/PES)
  • New Circular Economy Action Plan, Tjisse STELPSTRA (NL/ECR)
For these adoptions, guest speakers include MEPs Jan HUITEMA and María Soraya RODRÍGUEZ RAMOS.
