On 27 March 2023, the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is hosting the launch of the 2022 edition of the EU Regional Competitiveness Index.
This is the fifth time the European Commission publishes the EU Regional Competitiveness Index, a composite indicator aiming at measuring the ability of a region to offer an attractive environment for firms and residents to live and work. Since its first edition, back in 2010, the RCI has grown into a much-cited and widely used index. Given the high interest in the index, the publication of the report will be accompanied by a set of interactive online tools.
Ms Elisa Ferreira, European Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, will open the event, followed by the presentation of the index by Mr Peter Berkowitz, Director for Policy at the European Commission – DG for Regional and Urban Policy. Two panel sessions will follow, offering a lively debate on the relevance of the index for regional and urban policymaking.
