On 13 May, CoR member
Patrik Schwarcz-Kiefer celebrated Europe Day with the citizens of the city of Mohács and of the neighbouring municipalities.
The aim of the event was to bring the European Union closer to its citizens in a small town of 16,000 people by
presenting EU topics that affect people's daily lives. This was not only be achieved through frontal lectures,
but also through entertaining and interesting programs that encouraged interactive participation, tasks and
discussions.
Programme
10:00-12:00 Lecture and discussion on Europe Day on various CoFoE
topics:
- building a healthy continent
- fighting climate change and environmental challenges
- creating an economy that serves people's interests
- social justice
- equality and solidarity between generations
- Europe's digital transformation
- European rights and values, including the rule of law
- migration challenges
- security
- the EU's role in the world
- the democratic foundations of the Union
- ways to strengthen the democratic processes that govern the European Union
16:00-18:00 Panel discussion on the future of European mobility
In addition, there was a continuous programme throughout the day:
- Europe quiz for children and adults
- Competitions (e-sports)
- Face painting
- Thematic discussions
- Drawing competition exhibition (Europe and me)
