The CoR stands in solidarity with Türkiye and Syria  

​​​​​​A devastating earthquake hit Türkiye and Syria last 6 February, Europe's worst natural disaster in a century according to the World Health Organisation. More than 50,000 people have been killed and millions of people affected, including injured and left homeless people.

The European Committee of the Regions expressed its condolences immediatly.  The people in Türkiye and Syria should know that the CoR is with them for the long run. The CoR invites all its members as well as all public and private donors, to contribute and honour the memory of the lives lost and to build together a better future for the survivors.

Please donate now to provide emergency relief to those affected by this devastating earthquake!

EU regional and local authorities, companies and individuals, who would like to donate material aid to Türkiye and Syria, can get in touch with the civil protection authorities of their Member State. A Donors' Conference to raise funds for Türkiye and Syria, was co-hosted on 20 March 2023 by the European Commission and the Swedish Presidency of the Council.  A total of €7 billion were pledged by the international community.
