Norėdamas užtikrinti optimalią informacinę paramą savo pranešėjams ir nariams, Europos regionų komitetas (RK) gali pasitelkti išorės ekspertus, kad šie atliktų mokslinius tyrimus tam tikrais juos dominančiais klausimais.

Papildydama šiuos RK skelbiamus tyrimus, Europos Parlamento tyrimų tarnyba (EPRS), remdamasi 2014 m. vasario 5 d. Europos regionų komiteto ir Europos Parlamento bendradarbiavimo susitarimu, taip pat rengia su RK konsultaciniu darbu susijusius ir jį remiančius informacinius pranešimus ir analizes.
