Stakeholder consultation on African swine fever and the EU pork market

The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is currently drafting an opinion on "African swine fever and the EU pork market".

The rapporteur of the opinion, Mr. Sławomir Sosnowski (PL/EPP), Member of the Lubelskie Regional Assembly, together with his expert Mr Przemysław Litwiniuk, would be happy to meet with representatives of local and regional authorities and stakeholders. African swine fever poses a huge threat to the rural development, local and regional economy, environment, animal husbandry and, consequently, humans and public health. Spread of the virus in the environment may even lead to the collapse of the European pork market and deprive the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of farmers.

The consultation will take place on:
6 May 2019 between 14.30 and 16.30
in the Committee of the Regions building
(Rue Belliard 99-101, B-1040 Brussels)
Room JDE 51
(Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in Polish and English)
