Vaccine status
The EU has reached a crucial milestone with 70% of the adult population now fully vaccinated against COVID-19. In total, over 256 million adults in the EU have now received a full vaccine course. The Commission and EU countries have pledged close to €3 billion to COVAX, the global initiative aimed at ensuring equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines, and are supporting vaccination campaigns in partner countries. A new Flash Eurobarometer survey conducted at the end of May 2021 showed that 75% agree that COVID-19 vaccines are the only way to end the pandemic. 69% are either already vaccinated, or eager to be vaccinated as soon as possible, although there are significant variations among Member States and by age group.
