The European Commission has published a new Communication on its better
regulation agenda. Building on the existing cooperation with the CoR's RegHub network, the
European Commission has put forward a number of opportunities to enhance
the role of regional and local authorities to provide input in a shared
effort to update and simplify existing EU laws.
RegHub welcomes the European Commission's commitment to systematically
involve it into the work of the Fit for Future Platform, thus making it one
of the pillars of the improved involvement of stakeholders in the
legislative process. The network looks forward to continue helping the
Commission identify EU rules that create unnecessary burdens on the ground.
With its upcoming consultation on 21st century infrastructure,
RegHub will put forward very concrete proposals to help remove obstacles
and red tape, slowing down the realisation of infrastructure investments
and the implementation of NextGenerationEU. Local and regional stakeholders
are well placed to help identify opportunities to better contribute to the
EU recovery and fully support this key objective of the Communication.
