The place of regions in the European Union architecture
The current pandemic has highlighted the fundamental role of regional and local authorities in delivering healthcare and social and economic recovery. They will continue to bring their added value to the key European Union policies, in particular in the green and digital transitions, and in rebuilding trust with citizens.

The Conference on the Future of Europe gives an opportunity to reflect on the functioning of democracy within the EU, and to reinforce how regional and local authorities take part in the EU's decision-making processes, based on the principles of subsidiarity and proportionality.

This high-level, online event will comprise representatives from the EU and from national and regional parliaments and governments, discussing the future role of regions in the EU.

It is intended to end with the adoption and signature of the Declaration The place of regions in the European Union architecture. We invite you to send your comments on and amendments to the Draft declaration - The place of regions in the EU architecture.docx until the 21st of June to.

Further information about the event will be published on this page, including the final agenda.
