The 14th plenary session of the Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly (ARLEM) took place on Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 October 2023 at Hotel Calabona in Alghero, Italy.
At a rountable on territorial cooperation Members looked at how local authorities can make policies that address multidimensional environmental challenges. A capacity building session focused on peer-to-peer cooperation, which included an update a the current state of play of the Nicosia Initiative. In addition to these debates, the reports on Cities' and regions' potential role in Mediterranean civil protection, drawn up by rapporteur André Viola (PES/FR), and on Urban health and sustainable urban mobility in the Mediterranean, drawn up by rapporteur Abedelaziz Derouiche, President of the AMPCPP and President of the Prefectoral Council of Rabat, Morocco, were adopted. They will soon be available on the "reports" section of the ARLEM website.
The plenary session was followed by the ceremony for the ARLEM Award 2023: Young local entrepreneurship in the Mediterranean. The information about this year's winner can be found here.
