Majanduspoliitika komisjoni pädevusvaldkonnad on järgmised:

VKEde poliitika

majandus- ja rahanduspoliitika

majanduse juhtimine ja Euroopa poolaasta

siseturg

rahvusvaheline kaubandus ja tariifid

riigihanked, konkurents ja riigiabipoliitika

Euroopa Regioonide Komitee järelevalveplatvorm ja Euroopa ettevõtluspiirkonnad aitavad ECONi komisjoni liikmetel jälgida praegusi suundumusi ja probleeme ning määrata kindlaks head poliitilised tavad.

Kõrgetasemeline paljusid sidusrühmi ühendav platvorm kestliku arengu eesmärkide käsitlemiseks toetab ja nõustab Euroopa Komisjoni kestliku arengu eesmärkide elluviimisel. See võimaldab leida komiteel ühise keele kõigi teiste sidusrühmadega ja teha ettepanekuid kestliku ELi loomiseks. Komitee panust koordineerib ECONi komisjon. 
