Under the heading 'European Green Deal', the European Commission's President-elect, Ursula von der Leyen, has placed Europe's decarbonisation and climate neutrality at the top of her political priorities. Yet Europe's sustainable energy transition will only be successful with the full involvement of cities and regions. On 3 Decembre 2019, the European Committee of the Regions has invited thirty young elected politicians from all over Europe to work together on three specific topics: Deployment of renewable energies at local level and citizen's empowerment as prosumers
(energy producers/consumers) 2/ Energy efficiency measures and 3/ Low-carbon modes of transport. They will come up with key conclusions and recommendations to accelerate
climate action locally as a driver towards EU climate neutrality and compliance with
the Paris climate Agreement.
