Stakeholder consultation on Agropastoralism

The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is currently drafting an opinion on "Agropastoralism".

The rapporteur of the opinion, Mr. Jacques Blanc (FR/EPP), Mayor of La Canourgue, together with his expert Mr Laurent Garde, would be happy to meet with representatives of local and regional authorities and stakeholders. The survival of pastoralism is under threat from a range of difficulties: those arising from the economic context, competition for land, difficulties in handing on know-how, environmental constraints on the organisation of grazing, competition with other users of pasture, in particular for leisure purposes, and lastly the threat posed by large carnivores to flocks. This policy debate will feed into the CoR opinion on the subject.

The consultation will take place on:
29 April 2019 between 14.30 and 16.30
in the Committee of the Regions building
(Rue Belliard 99-101, B-1040 Brussels)
Room JDE 51
(Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in French and English)

After a short introduction by the rapporteur, the audience will be invited to exchange views with the rapporteur and his expert. Should you have any position papers relevant to the subject, be so kind to send them to us by e-mail using the address below.

You can register until 1.00 a.m. on 25 April 2019 to participate in this debate to shape the rapporteur's views.

Please note that – due to security reasons – only registered persons have access to the Committee's building. You will be requested to show a valid id card or passport in order to access the building, or any other valid document which includes a photo.

Please also note that in order to reduce paper waste, the CoR will not provide paper copies of documents for the meeting.
