Fit for Future opinion on a Governments Interoperability Strategy

The Fit for Future Platform (F4F) opinion on a Governments Interoperability Strategy, drafted by CoR representative in the Platform, Anne Karjalainen (PES/FI), has been adopted by unanimity during the Platform's plenary meeting on 5 December 2022 in Brussels. You can find the approved opinion here.

The opinion, which benefitted from an in-depth RegHub consultation on the implementation of the current European interoperability framework, assessing the latter's support in setting up interoperable digital public services. By making 8 suggestions on how to improve the current framework, it simultaneously elaborates the proposal on the EU governments interoperability strategy, announced in the Communication 'Shaping Europe's digital future'. The aim is to establish a common EU level interoperability governance to ensure cross-border coordination, support public sector innovation and define minimum common specifications for secure and borderless public sector data flows and services.

During the preparation phase of the opinion, the European Commission has published the proposal for an Interoperable Europe Act, taking already into account many of the points raised by the RegHub consultation.
