Thematic Seminar - Regions and Cities catalyse Social Innovation - in the context of the Knowledge Exchange Platform (KEP)
Cities and regions are among the most favourable grounds for social innovation and experimentation. By engaging into bottom-up approaches and co-creation together with different stakeholders of their ecosystem, they can contribute to the emergence of inclusive and resilient models, especially in regions where it is needed the most. This thematic seminar on "Regions and Cities catalyse Social Innovation" will focus on cities, regions, and their potential to unleash the power of communities and smaller organisations to address unmet social needs and drive system change.

Experts in social innovation, local and regional authorities and EU policy makers will be brought together to discuss the current practices and learn from other innovative initiatives identified in European cities. Participants will have the opportunity to deepen the exchange with the presenters of the practice cases and discuss potential or obstacles to replicate similar initiatives in other cities or regions.

The Knowledge Exchange Platform (KEP) is a concept jointly developed by the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) and DG Research and Innovation of the European Commission (DG RTD). It is aimed at presenting new R&I solutions, innovative products and best practices in response to societal challenges facing the regions and cities of Europe.
