​​​​​The 2nd SEDEC commission meeting of the 7th Mandate will take place on 24 February 2020 from 11:00 to 17:30 at the European Committee of the Regions in Brussels, room JDE 52.

During the meeting the Commission members are going to discuss and endorse the draft Work Programme for 2020, as well as the contribution of the SEDEC commission to the 2019 Impact Report.

One draft opinion is scheduled for discussion and adoption: Demographic change: proposals on measuring and tackling its negative effects in EU regions, Rapporteur  János Ádám KARÁCSONY (HU/EPP).

The Director General of DG-EMPL Joost Korte will make a speech about the recent communication on A strong Social Europe for Just Transitions, proposing actions and as the communication is meant as a road map for an Action Plan to implement the European Pillar of Social Rights. As stated in the communication, the European Commission welcomes and encourages feedback and proposals in order to formulate the Action Plan (submission can be done until November 30, 2020).

In addition, there will be an exchange of views on the opinion on Regional Innovation Scoreboard and its impact in regional place-based policies, Rapporteur Mikel IRUJO AMEZAGA (ES/EA), and a presentation by the European Local Inclusion and Social Action Network (ELISAN).
