    Is the event going to be on-site or remote?

    ​​The Summit is being organised as a hybrid event, with both on-site participation at the Marseille Chanot Congress and Exhibition Palace (Palais des Evénements) and active remote participation on the digital event platform.

    Nevertheless, physical presence will depend on the COVID measures in place.

    French authorities now require a vaccination pass for physical events. Please consult the official French government website on the conditions of access: https://www.gouvernement.fr/info-coronavirus/pass-vaccinal.

    What time does the Summit start and finish?

    The Summit starts at 9 a.m. each day and finishes at 6 p.m. on 3 March and at 5 p.m. on 4 March 2022. The virtual exhibition accompanying the event will also be accessible before and after the event, from 19 February to 18 March 2022.​

    In what language do the sessions take place?

    Simultaneous interpretation will be available during all of the sessions. For details about language coverage for a specific session, please consult the Summit programme online.

    Until when can I register?

    ​For on-site participation, please register by 24 February 2022.

    ​​For online participation, registration closes on 2 March 2022.

    Can I change the details of my online registration?

    You will be able to change your registration data with a password that you choose at the end of the registration process; please remember this password. Switching from remote to in-person participation will not be possible after 24 February 2022.

    For remote participants - Which platform will be used?

    ​All sessions will offer the possibility to participate remotely via Zoom. The connection links are displayed in the individual programme generated after registration.​​​

    For remote participants – How can I participate during the sessions?

    As registered participant you will have the possibility to use the chat. Subject to the time available, selected questions from the chat will be addressed to the panel.​

    If you follow a session taking place in the main room, please keep your camera on during the debate and join the audience in the meeting room, who will be able to see you on screen as part of a live mosaic. You might be asked to wave in reaction to questions posed by the moderators. 

    Some sessions will also request your participation in polls.  

    Furthermore, a social media wall will be displayed on screens in the venue. When sharing your comments about the conference and engaging with others via Twitter, please use the Twitter handle #EUlocal and #sommetvillesetregions. ​ ​

    For on site participants - What safety measures will be in place at the Summit?

    ​​​​Security and sanitary checks will be mandatory when entering the venue, in compliance with the French security and health protocol in force at the time of the event.

    Please make sure that you have your ID card or passport, COVID certificate (pass vaccinal) and proof of registration with you when you arrive at the venue.

    Please regularly consult the official French government website on the conditions of access: Info Coronavirus Covid-19 - « Pass vaccinal » | Gouvernement.fr.

    To this date, to access the Summit premises, it is mandatory to be able to prove that you are in the following situation:

    • Have had a comp​​lete vaccination scheme, including the 3rd dose in less than 4 months;
    • Have certificate of recovery from the Covid-19 dating from at least 11 days and less than 6 months;
    • Have a certificate of medical contraindication preventing vaccination

    The French authorities strongly advise all travellers to France to download the "TousAntiCovid" application, that will help your way through the various checks that you will have to go through during your stay in France.     For on site participants - Where can I get my badge?

    ​​​​​​You will be able to pick up your badge at the welcome desk located in the entrance hall of the Palais des Evénements in Parc Chanot. The badge remains valid for the entire duration of the summit.

    Please have your proof of registration, ID card or passport and vaccination certificate ready when picking up your badge. Please plan to arrive well ahead of the session start.​ The welcome desks will be open on 3 March 2022 starting at 08:00

    For on site participants - What documents do I need to attend the Summit?

    You will be asked to present a vaccination pass, confirmation registration and identity card before entering the conference venue. You will be required to encode your ID card/passport number, birth day and birth place in the registration process for security reasons. Please check that you have entered this information.​

    For on site participants - Is there a place where I can drop my luggage?

    ​​​There will be cloakrooms available for Summit attendees. However, luggage is not allowed inside and a storage facility will be put in place outside the building. To speed up security checks, we would advise you not to bring your luggage to the event, if possible.

    For on site participants - How do I find the conference rooms?

    The main conference hall is room « Amphitheatre » in the Palais des Événements; participants will be guided with signage and a fenced path to the Palais des Congrès for the parallel sessions in  rooms « Auditorium » and « Goudes ».​​​

    For on site participants - What if I need special assistance/ medical assistance?

    Please specify on the registration form if you will request any special assistance during the event.

    First aid points with nurses will be in place at the venue during the Summit.

    For on site participants - Will there be Wi-Fi available at the Summit?

    ​​Official event Wi-Fi will be freely available throughout the venue. Connection details will be provided at the venue without password.

    For on site participants - Will there be an exhibition?

    A virtual exhibition and some physical stands accompany the event. The virtual exhibition remains accessible until 18 March 2022.​​​

    For on site participants - Will food be available on site?

    ​​​​Light lunches will be provided at set times in the Palais des Congrès, ground floor. Coffee and refreshments will be available throughout the Palais des Événements. Catering and external food and beverage suppliers will strictly adhere to government health and safety guidelines throughout the event.

    Summit participants will also receive a dinner voucher of 30 euros that can be used on the 3rd March from 6.30 pm in the participating restaurants. The voucher has to be requested individually and will be generated on a dedicated platform.
    Detailed information will be sent by email to registered participants.​

    For on site participants - Will there be a cultural event?

    A visit to the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations (MuCEM) is offered to registered summit participants on 3 March 2022 as of 18h30, followed by a cocktail reception. 

    The MuCEM can be reached by a direct, but long, bus ride (take bus 83 from Metro Rond Point du Prado to Fort Jean) or a short metro ride following a 15 minutes' walk (take line M2 from Rond Point du Prado to Joliette). It will take between 30-45 minutes to get there depending on the mode of transport you choose.

    For on site participants - Will my travel expenses be reimbursed?

    ​​Participants are responsible for their own travel arrangements. The European Committee of the Regions only covers the expenses of its members and of specific categories of participants. Those eligible for reimbursement will be provided with detailed practical information.

    For on site participants - Will transport be provided?

    ​Please note that no shuttle transport will be provided from and to the Summit. A metro stop is located in front of the entrance of the Parc Chanot (station Rond Point du Prado).

    Moreover, you can get free transport passes for the duration of the Summit. The delivery of the passes will take place as follows:

    • 1 dedicated counter located at the airport bus station, operational on 2 and 3 March
    • 1 dedicated counter in the Saint-Charles metro station on 2 and 3 March
    • at the summit venue for delegates who arrive by car or outside the opening hours of the counters.

    Saint Charles TGV station is five metro stops away from Parc Chanot on a direct line (line 2 direction Sainte Marguerite Dromel) and 2 stops away from Le Vieux Port.
    There are direct bus and trains from the airport to Saint Charles station (every 20 minutes; a journey takes 25 minutes).

    I am a speaker on site - How should I prepare?

    It is important that speakers are in contact with their respective session managers to ensure smooth proceedings.

    Please send your speaking points to SummitMarseille2022@cor.europa.eu and your session manager no later than 25 February 2022. These will be forwarded to interpreters.

    Please make yourself available for a meeting with the other speakers and the moderator before the event. This can be done online and/or in the speakers' room on site.

    I am a speaker on site - How can I establish contact with the media present at the event?

    There will be journalists present at the Summit (recognisable by the yellow lanyard). They will be able to take interviews in the media corner at the Parc Chanot. If you are interested, you can get in touch with  pressecdr@cor.europa.eu.​​

    I am a remote speaker - How should I prepare?

    If you are planning to speak remotely it is important that you have a stable internet connection. We will use the online video conferencing platform Zoom. Please join at least 15 minutes before your session starts.

    After connecting to Zoom, make sure that you name yourself correctly (First name and Last name) otherwise it will not be possible for the organisers to find you among the other participants.

    Note that some sessions may be ongoing when you join. Please stay connected and wait for the moderator to give you the floor. You will be given control to mute or unmute yourself.

    A reminder with the Zoom link to join the session will be sent to you a few days before the Summit.​

    I am a remote speaker - What if I experience technical difficulties?

    ​If you are participating online and experience any technical difficulties that can't be helped, please contact the room manager. The session manager should provide you with the contact details of the room manager.​​

    How are CoR members supposed to register?

    ​​​CoR members have to register both on the Summit website and on the Members Portal.

    I am an alternate CoR member, can I attend the summit even without delegation?

    A delegation entitles you to a claim for reimbursement.  Attendance on own expenses is possible without delegation.​​

    Where does the event take place?

    The 9th European Summit of Regions and Cities will be held at the Parc Chanot in Marseille:

    What security and health measures will be put in place during the summit?

    During the Summit, specific security measures will be in place in and around the venue. Please make sure that you have your ID card or passport, COVID certificate ( pass vaccinal ) and proof of registration with you when you arrive at the venue.

    Where can I drop off my personal effects and luggage?

    ​There will be an attended cloakroom located in the main building for the duration of the event. However, luggage is not allowed inside and a storage facility will be put in place outside the building. To speed up security checks, we would advise you not to bring your luggage to the event, if possible.

    For audiovisual journalists

    • Cutaways and images: part of the programme will be broadcasted on EbS (Europe by Satellite). TVs will be able to download broadcast images to edit their news reports.
    • ENG crews (cameraman+soundman): will be available on the spot for recording interviews.
    • Editing facilities: for editing news reports.

    Please specify on the registration form if you will need any special assistance during the event. First aid points will be in place at the venue during the Summit.

    There will be free Wi-Fi access inside the meeting rooms and the whole building.

    Are there any transport facilities organised for the summit?

    Please note, that no shuttle transport will be provided from and to the Summit. A metro stop is located in front of the entrance of the Parc Chanot (station Rond Point du Prado).

    The Aix-Marseille-Provence Métropole kindly offers the participants free public transport tickets for the days of the Summit. You are invited to collect them at the welcome stands at Saint Charles train station and Marseille Airport by presenting the registration confirmation email. 

    Saint Charles TGV station is five metro stops away from Parc Chanot on a direct line (line 2 direction Sainte Marguerite Dromel) and 2 stops away from Le Vieux Port. 

    There are direct bus and trains from the airport to Saint Charles station (every 20 minutes; a journey takes 25 minutes).

    Is there any accreditation policy for media representatives?

    ​Media representatives are to register on the main registration platform of the Summit and state that they are press representatives. They will receive a press badge on the spot allowing them to participate in the media programme and receive special support from the press teams of the organisers (CoR and French South Region). A media centre is also available in the Palais des Congres, room Endoume.
