The local dialogue taking place in Trieste on 22 September 2021 will discuss shaping the
“House of European Democracy”.
President Tzitzikostas will be welcomed at the Legislative Assembly of Friuli Venezia Giulia autonomous
Region by the President of the Assembly and CoR member, Piero Mauro Zanin. After his introductory remarks, Mr Zanin will act as moderator of the debate, that has been conceived as a debate between the
young politicians of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the President of the European Committee of the Regions.
This is one of the local dialogues held in Friuli Venezia Giulia in the framework of the Conference on the
Future of Europe: young locally elected officials of FVG have therefore been invited to share their vision
on how the EU will be and should be. Following a keynote speech by President Tzitzikostas, the dialogue
will focus on issues that have a strong local and territorial impact, such as:
- the involvement of young officials in building the European common house and in bridging the gap
between EU institutions and European citizens;
- the establishment of a stable network of young representatives and its possible role in order to share
the common issues of EU policy;
- multilevel governance, also in reference to the governance of the Italian National
Recovery Plan;
- common legislation and programs for cross-border areas.
