Online event 10.06.2021
10:00-13:20 - with the presence of Krzysztof Matyjaszczyk, Mayor of Częstochowa (PL), CoR member
The European Commission and the European Committee of the Regions, in cooperation with the Polish newspaper, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, invite you to two webinars devoted to urban policy in the new financial perspective, especially in the context of Integrated Territorial Investments (ITI) - i.e. projects implemented jointly by many local governments.
The new EU financial perspective for 2021-2027 will be based on the implementation of the European Green Deal - an action plan for the sustainable development of the European Union. The plan aims to address climate and environmental challenges in all areas of European and national policy. The ambitious goal of the European Green Deal is to modernise the European economy, reduce its resource needs and increase its competitiveness. The economy does not function in isolation from the local environment and local communities. Its development, like social development, requires support for modern, low, and zero-emission transport, a pollution-free climate, and advanced services for city dwellers and smaller municipalities surrounding them, as well as for businesses.
The European Union, taking up the challenge of introducing the European Green Deal, sees the strategy as an opportunity to direct Europe on the paths of dynamic technological and social development. Achieving the goals of the European Green Deal will entail real changes for the European Union, its Member States, and regional and local communities. The debates will mostly highlight the manner governments tackle these changes and the way to achieve them locally.
