Duties

Reporting to the Head of unit the assistant will be responsible for the following tasks:

- Provide access to library services and ensure the permanence and the reception in the reading room;
- Manage and maintain the library's integrated management system and discovery tool;
- Catalogue and classify documents in different formats (monographs, serial publications...) and on different supports (paper, electronic, multimedia...);
- Manage information requests by collaborating with other services and networks both inside and outside the CoR; support the work of CoR Members, commissions and staff through research services and information gathering, analysis and reports;
- Attend users both online and offline (customer-care); constant monitoring of the services offered; preparation and analysis of surveys; recommend actions;
- Collaborate in the preparation (creation of promotional material, invitations, control and reception of attendees, etc.) and the smooth running of events of various types: book presentations, debates, trainings, meetings, etc.;
- Prepare presentations and training sessions on information search tools and services;
- Network with other services and institutions to create synergies and value-added services (EUROLIB network, EPRS);
- Collaborate in financial procedures for the acquisition of resources and information tools.

Qualifications and skills required

- Thorough knowledge of an official language of the EU and satisfactory knowledge of another official language of the EU. For functional reasons, a very good knowledge of English is required. Knowledge of other EU languages, in particular French, would be an advantage;
- Hard-working and problem-solving attitude on a daily basis;
- Capacity to work independently, fast and with a high degree of precision;
- High levels of digital literacy and strong IT skills, including the user of library management systems and discovery tools; knowledge of Alma/Primo is considered a strong asset;
- At least 3 years of work experience in the area of knowledge / information management;
- Work experience with cataloguing rules and bibliographic description standards (i.e ISBD, MARC21…);
- Thorough knowledge of information search tools and databases;
- Willing to learn new digital tools and technologies;
- Good team player, communicative and client-oriented person;
- Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills;
- Good eye for detail.
