YFactor presents its documentary "Holding Hands"

Youth perspectives on the war in Ukraine

Shocked by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the attack of European values, we wanted to use our position as CoR trainees and the resources at our disposal to give a voice to young people. In this year's YFactor project, we used in-depth research and interviews to explore young people's perspectives on democracy and European identity in light of the war in Ukraine. Four months of work finally resulted in the 25-minute documentary "Holding Hands" and an explanatory report.

The process and mission

We have conducted academic research on five main concerns. Namely: humanitarian, democracy, security, economy, identity. These initial findings were complemented by three sets of interviews. In these interviews, one Ukrainian and one young European were questioned on their personal insights on the aforementioned topics. The aim of our project was to learn more about the concerns of young people from different regions of Europe. It was also intended to provide the CoR with practical knowledge for the preparation of political positions on youth issues.

The outcome

Our policy report outlines our work structure, the outcomes as well as the lessons learned for all interested parties, but also for subsequent trainee groups. Click here to see the final report.
