30 years of bringing green ideas to LIFE
In the last 30 years, the LIFE Programme has provided 5.21 billion euros of financial support to environment and climate action projects across Europe to pave the way for a more sustainable future for our citizens.
This exhibition shows the most innovative, inspirational, and exciting LIFE projects through a rich opus of documentary photography signed by a broad group of authors. The collection is thematically divided into three main categories, each of which represents one of the sub-programmes of LIFE:
  • Circular economy and quality of life themes are presented through a collection of close-ups and totals that focus on some of the technologies and products developed by LIFE projects to overcome pollution or make our economies more sustainable.
  • Energy & Climate action photos present recognisable symbols of the sustainable transition to renewable energy sources or show new ways to adapt to changing climatic scenarios.
  • Nature and Biodiversity photos show species and habitats that the LIFE Programme have been protecting for the last 30 years.
The exhibition also has an educational aspect. Each of these topics aims at showing what we can do to preserve our planet and ensure a better future for generations to come. They catch the LIFE Programme in its full range of implementation on the ground and invite viewers to acknowledge the overarching work done to link environment protection, achievement of social goals and support of sustainable business and life models.

About the LIFE Programme
The LIFE Programme is the EU's funding instrument for the environment and climate action. It has been running since 1992 and has co-financed over 5 500 projects across the EU and third countries. LIFE has four sub-programmes: nature and biodiversity, circular economy and quality of life, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and clean energy transition.

About #LIFEis30
On 21 May 1992, the then European Economic Community passed two laws that would forever change the face of nature conservation: the Habitats Directive and the LIFE Regulation, which established the LIFE Programme. Since then, LIFE has been catalytic in improving the management of natural resources, enhancing the quality of our lives and fighting climate change. To mark this special year, LIFE launched the #LIFEis30 campaign, which encourages ongoing and past LIFE projects to become LIFE ambassadors during 2022. Find out more: lifeis30.eu
