Gregor Johann Mendel, the father of genetics
The exhibition aims to honour the life and work of Gregor Johann Mendel (1822-1884), the father of genetics, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of his birth.

It presents Gregor Johann Mendel as a proud citizen of Europe, German by nationality, himself feeling Moravian, working on the territory of the present-day Czech Republic, and studying in Austria.

Visitors will learn that Mendel was not only the scientist who discovered the laws of heredity. He was also a beekeeper, a meteorologist, a farmer and a teacher. The manuscript exhibited in the European Committee of the Regions authentically documents the results of Mendel's scientific research. Next to this exceptional manuscript, the exhibition also presents explanatory panels devoted to Mendel's life and discoveries.

The exhibition is organised by "Společně" (meaning "Together"), a public benefit association dealing with social issues in Brno and South Moravia.
