The Green Deal Goes Local: debate with the Bratislava-Petržalka Youth Parliament

The European Committee of the Regions (CoR), in cooperation with the Bratislava–Petržalka Youth Parliament in Slovakia, organized a digital info session on the opportunities brought by the European Green Deal, the EU's strategy to reach climate neutrality by 2050.

Mr Vincent Chauvet (FR/Renew Europe), Mayor of Autun and CoR Rapporteur of the Opinion "Stepping up Europe’s 2030 climate ambition towards COP26", engaged in a debate with the members of the youth parliament to present the key priorities of the European Green Deal and the opportunities for cities and regions.

The CoR initiative Green Deal Going Local and the CoR Interactive Map on Green Deal stories were presented to inspire the youth parliament with projects and initiatives run at local and regional level.

The members of the youth parliament debated with the CoR Member Vincent Chauvet on three main topics:

  • The European Green Deal: what are the opportunities for my city?
  • How the European Green Deal can be implemented at local and regional level?
  • Sharing of knowledge and best practices.
The session was organised in close cooperation with the Bratislava–Petržalka municipality (Slovakia), represented by Miroslav Behúl, city councillor and participant of the CoR Young Elected Politicians (YEPs) Programme.
