The recently endorsed UfM Strategic Urban Development Action Plan 2040,
which was presented back-to-back with the 6th ARLEM Commission
meeting, establishes a common vision for addressing urban challenges in the
region and aims to enable local authorities to work in a more systematic
and coherent way towards achieving overarching goals in sustainable urban
development. This meeting will aim at fostering peer learning through the
exchange of experiences, tools, concepts, and frameworks for sustainable
integrated development, based on successful experiences in city-to-city
cooperation from the perspective of cities and institutions, with the goal
to inspire future practices at regional level. The Nicosia initiative will
also be presented.
