Sustainable development: Webinar on the localization of the SDGs through regional governments

CoR partner, the Network of Regional Government for Sustainable Development (nrg4sd), will organise a webinar on Thursday 5 July from 3.00pm until 5.00pm.

The webinar will launch the report Localizing the SDGs: regional governments paving the way, which was jointly developed by nrg4SD and the University of Strathclyde Centre for Environmental Law and Governance, and with the support of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR), ORU Fogar and the ART Initiative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP ART).

Localizing the SDGs relates to how subnational governments can support the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through bottom-up action and how the SDGs provide a framework for local, urban and territorial development.

This report is based on a survey with 47 regional governments throughout the world and maps the processes undertaken by different regional governments to translate SDGs on the ground within their constituency.

The CoR will launch a similar survey in partnership with nrg4sd for its members in order to identify regions and cities leading on SDGs implementation and wishing to share their expertise. The survey will also help identify members wishing to engage in SDGs and propose adequate support to start such an engagement.
