Sustainable Blue Economy and Aquaculture in EU Regions

The European Commission, Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and European Committee of the Regions are co-organising a hybrid event dedicated to Sustainable Blue Economy and Aquaculture in EU regions on 22 September 2022 in Brussels, at the Albert Borschette Congress Center.

It is of great importance to engage the regional authorities in Member States in the implementation of the EU strategy for aquaculture. They are often those with competence for the development of the blue economy and, more particularly, the licencing and the detailed regulation of aquaculture activities. Member States have worked on updating their national strategic plans for aquaculture, and it is essential that regional authorities play their role in their implementation.

Regions across the EU will present the examples of successful integration of aquaculture: as part of a sustainable and resilient blue economy in the EU regions, as an activity well integrated with nature conservation, and as an innovative and competitive sector of the future.

You will find the agenda and other information updated regularly at the website of the event.
