Green Deal in times of crisis. Presentation of the Green Deal Going Local Campaign and the opportunities and actions for cities and regions on the path to climate-neutrality.

In times of crisis, long-term goals are often put on the back burner, while we are fighting humanitarian emergency along with potential energy and food shortages. However, our planet cannot be left to slide into global warming and pollution. We should instead reverse this situation and use the current energy crisis caused by the war in Ukraine to speed up the green transition and accelerate the massive deployment of renewable energies, so important to secure the EU’s energy sovereignty and keep up with our international climate commitments.

We need to save resources, produce and consume energy more efficiently and ensure a more circular economy if we want to preserve biodiversity and live in a less polluted environment. The EU’s cities and regions, represented by EU Councillors, are definitely at the forefront of the EU’s transition towards climate-neutrality, the ultimate goal of the European Green Deal.

Therefore, we are pleased to invite you to discover Green Deal Going Local, an initiative of the European Committee of the Regions to place cities and regions at the heart of the climate-neutral transition, providing you with tools and engagement actions to accelerate the implementation of the Green Deal in your city or region. Under the title, Green Deal Going Local in times of crisis, our policy and communication experts will present you this CoR flagship initiative that will allow you to actively engage in the EU’s transition towards climate-neutrality.
