Forum on the Mission Adaptation to Climate Change - 7 June 2022

The Horizon Europe missions are the response of the EU to key challenges in select areas, aiming to provide concrete results by 2030. The Mission Adaptation to Climate Change aims at supporting around 150 regions and communities in Europe towards reaching climate resilience by fostering the development of innovative solutions.

Because climate change affects different regions, sectors of the economy and members of society in distinctive ways, the Mission will engage with the widest range of EU regional and local actors. The participation of Member States, regions and cities will be crucial in the implementation of the Mission as they are key agents of change in deploying new technologies, experimenting innovative solutions that address local needs, and in leading different stakeholders towards the green transition. The Mission will also engage with citizens by funding projects facilitating their involvement.

The first Forum on the Mission Adaptation to Climate Change will bring together regional and local authorities, members of the European Parliament, of the Committee of Regions, research organisations and non-governmental organisations to take stock, to identify issues, to provide direction and to define the path ahead for the Mission. It will also present the situation in Europe regarding adaptation to climate change and will gather input from regions, including on intentions to participate in the Mission. This whole-day meeting will be hybrid, welcoming participants online and offline.
