Regions4 Sustainable Development, a long-standing partner of the Committee
of the Regions, is organizing a High-Level Event in preparation of the 2021
High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development
(HLPF) hosted by the United Nations in July. The event is titled: "Building
a Sustainable and Resilient Future: Subnational Governments Leading
Integrated Approaches for People, Planet, and Prosperity"
The high-level panel, first of a series of three events, will focus on the
environmental dimension of sustainable development and the
interconnectedness between the prosperity of the planet and people's
well-being.
The CoR supports this initiative as a an opportunity to influence the
outcomes of three important international milestones for the future of the
Agenda 2030, that are going to happen this year, namely the 2021 HLPF, the
15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on
Biological Diversity
(COP 15) and the
26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties
(COP26). The aim is to highlight the role of subnational governments in
shaping a sustainable post-pandemic recovery and celebrate their efforts
and actions to reach the Sustainable Development Goals.
The event will be organised fully online. It will take place on 1 July
2021,14:30-16:00 CEST.
