Online stakeholder consultation on "Revised Trans-European Energy Infrastructure Regulation fit for the Green and Digital Transition"

The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is currently drafting an opinion entitled " Revised Trans-European Energy Infrastructure Regulation fit for the Green and Digital Transition" . This opinion deals with the European Commission Proposal for a REGULATION OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL on guidelines for trans-European energy infrastructure and repealing Regulation (EU) No 347/2013 (COM(2020) 824 final) .

The TEN-E Regulation is a key instrument to achieve the timely development of sufficient energy infrastructures to enable delivering on the EU’s energy and climate objectives in line with the European Green Deal, in particular on the 2030 and 2050 targets, market integration competitiveness, and security of supply. However, it is important to recognize that it is only one element. A number of other complementary policy measures have already been or need to be put in place at EU, national, regional and local level. These include investments in the necessary infrastructure projects without a significant cross-border impact, investment in research, development and innovation for new technologies, policies supporting renewable energy generation, and initiatives supporting the acceptance of new infrastructure projects.

The rapporteur for this CoR opinion, Mr Robert Sorin NEGOIȚĂ (RO/PES) , Mayor of District 3, Bucharest Municipality, invites you to discuss the most important challenges and opportunities linked to this regulation proposal.
