On 11 April 2018, the Secretary General met Ms Daria Tataj, an innovation expert who advises mid-size cities on creating innovation districts. They exchanged views on current EU political topics and identified possible areas of potential cooperation with the CoR.
During the discussion, Mr Burianek informed Ms Tataj about the CoR's role in several city-related EU initiatives such as the legal instrument of "European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation" (EGTC) and the Urban Agenda for the EU. Ms Tataj shared her first-hand experiences of stimulating innovation under the current EU policy framework as elaborated in her book "Innovation and Entrepreneurship. A New Growth Model for Europe beyond the Crisis". In this book she delivers a more profound insight into the mechanisms of innovation processes and networks.
Ms Tataj advises the World Economic Forum, European Space Agency, governments, multinational companies, start-ups and universities. She is also the Chairwoman of Advisors to Carlos Moedas, the EU Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation.
