The
European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is currently drafting an opinion on the
"Communication on Better Regulation".
The
rapporteur of the opinion, Mr Olgierd Geblewicz (PL/EPP), President of the Westpomerania
Region, would be happy to meet with representatives of local and regional
authorities and stakeholders. The better regulation agenda of the European
Commission has been subject to a widespread stocktaking exercise and the
Commission has, on 15 April 2019, published a Communication on the lessons
learned from these exercises. Regional and local authorities are most often
tasked with implementing EU legislation on the ground and without their full
involvement, the EU's better regulation efforts cannot be considered as
complete. This policy debate will feed into the CoR opinion on the
subject.
The consultation will take place on:
10 May 2019 between 10.00 and 12.00
in the Committee of the Regions building
(Rue Belliard 99-101, B-1040 Brussels)
Room JDE 70
(Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in Polish and English)
After a
short introduction, the audience will be invited to exchange views with the
rapporteur. Should you have any position papers relevant to the subject, be so
kind to send them to us by e-mail using the address below.
You can register until 1.00 a.m. on 7 May 2019 to participate in this debate to shape the rapporteur's views.
Please note
that – due to security reasons – only registered persons have access to the
Committee's building. You will be requested to show a valid id card or passport
in order to access the building, or any other valid document which includes a
photo.
Please also note that in order to reduce paper waste, the CoR will not provide
paper copies of documents for the meeting.
