All Full and Alternate Members of the Latvian delegation are elected politicians representing local authorities. The delegation consists of seven full and seven alternate members. The Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments is the secretariat to the Latvian Delegation to the European Committee of the Regions.
Appointing the delegation
All members are appointed on the recommendation of the Latvian government. Before appointment by the Government, the Minister of the Environmental Protection and Regional Development consults the Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments on the candidates. National and local government associations and planning regions play a key role in determining the candidates for Latvian CoR nominations. Territorial and gender representation is taken into account. Other useful information
The delegation has meetings before the Plenary Sessions in Brussels.
The Secretariat to the Delegation is provided by the Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments (LALRG) and has the representation office in Brussels. The Secretariat coordinates the work of the members of the delegation and promotes the work of the Delegation both within Latvia and throughout the EU.
Alternate members are fully integrated in the work of the Delegation and participate in the work of the CoR commissions on a regular basis.
