Vote scheduled for the EP report on the Farm to fork strategy

The members of the EP AGRI & ENVI committees are about to vote on the draft report on the Farm to Fork strategy on 9 September

Meeting with officials from the DG SANTE and the DG AGRI

On 27 January 2021, the rapporteur met several officials from the Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI) as well as the DG for Health and Food Safety to present the main points of the CoR opinion and discuss the issues at stake, such as the important role of the regions, the role of different actors in the supply chain and, in particular, consumers; the importance of small farmers, labelling and the link to the CAP.

The draft report published on 17 December 2020 was discussed in a joint AGRI-ENVI meeting on 25 January 2021.

The rapporteur spoke at the high-level panel Working together to transform our food systems; along with the MEPs Herbert Dorfmann and Anja Hazekamp, Julia Klöckner, German Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture; Director General at BEUC Monique Goyens, Director at WWF European Policy Office Ester Asin Martinez, CEO at AS Salvest Triin Kõrgmaa, Pekka Pesonen Secretary General at Copa-Cogeca and Deputy Director General at Danish Veterinary and Food Administration Annelise Fenger.

The panel looked into how to make the transition to a sustainable food system as well as into the role of public authorities, primary producers, industry, civil society organisations and citizens themselves in driving change.
