"Irish Artists re-imagine works from the National Gallery of Ireland"
Supported by Culture Ireland and Ealain na Gaeltachta
Newly commissioned work by artists Nuala Ní Fhlathúin, Eoghan Mac Giolla Bhríde  and Andrew Duggan with actor Olwen Fouéré and photographer/filmmaker Siobhan Dempsey, interrogate Gaeltacht landscapes [Irish speaking areas of Ireland] in relation to works from the National Gallery of Ireland's Collections. Artists created work in Connemara, Donegal and on the Aran Islands re-contextualising key Irish, Italian and German paintings.
The work was first shown at National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin and in arts venues throughout Irish Gaeltacht regions on CULTURE NIGHT 2014.

"The EU Committee of the Regions, is the perfect context for work which explores the relationship between a 'central' and 'peripheral' space while providing a new audience and discursive platform for the work." - Andrew Duggan

IDIRÁITE  between  places is part of a developing series of artist-led projects curated by Andrew Duggan, where artists explore the relationships between a 'Gaeltacht' and Irish National Art Collections. Developed in partnership with Ealaín na Gaeltachta, Culture Night and The National Gallery of Ireland. Produced by Tomás Hardiman.  Funded by Ealaín na Gaeltachta, The National Gallery of Ireland and the Irish government-sponsored Culture Night.
