GOZO - Faces of Culture

This exhibition seeks to present the colours of life on the island of Gozo as a unique Mediterranean experience. It presents the stories of the Gozitans, as the inhabitants of the island are known, inspired by their stories, lifestyle and history.

The Mediterranean Island of Gozo is a micro-cultural ecology in its own right. Culture is a way of life which leaves its indelible marks on the island’s land-scapes and the aspirations of its communities. The cultural traditions of Gozo are alive beyond expectations to such an extent as to warrant comparison with bigger European towns and cities.

The island is only 67 square kilometres, having a length of 14 km and a width of 7.25 km and has a population of just above 35,000 persons. Yet the amount of cultural activities held on such a small island is remarkable.
Culture is embedded in the Gozitans and their communities, and each year new ideas are generated to invigorate the yearly calendar events.
