CoR Ateliers: a meeting place for academics and policy makers
The ATELIERS of the Committee of the Regions

The Committee of the Regions has set up the ateliers in order to gradually establish the institution among academic centres of excellence and leading think tanks.

The ateliers are in reality a laboratory where new concepts are tested, views shared, and innovative ideas developed and integrated in the EU decision making process.

The ateliers provide a new meeting place for academics and policy makers from varied backgrounds.

The ateliers, organised by the Forward Studies Unit, rely on a multidisciplinary network of recognised experts and think tank managers in order to develop innovative ideas and integrate the concept, tools and concrete examples of local and regional governance into the EU decision–making process. The ateliers are generally organised in the form of multi-annual ateliers cycles. Here are some examples of these cycles:

  1. 2008-2009: Multilevel Governance in Europe
  2. 2010-2011: Co-governing Globalization: What Role for Local and Regional Authorities?
