Simplifying the implementation of Cohesion Policy is a recurring issue highlighted by all actors involved in the implementation of the European Structural and Investment Funds.
Simplification should contribute to a better, more effective and simpler use of the Funds in order to make the greatest possible contribution to achieving the Treaty objective of Territorial Cohesion and making the EU more competitive.
In this regard the European Committee of the Regions and the Dutch Presidency of the Council of the European Union organised two joint workshops on simplification: the first workshop on 27 January 2016 focused on "auditing" and "reporting requirements and guidance" and the second workshop on 10 March 2016 focused on "state aid in Cohesion policy" and "public procurement".
Up to 100 experts from the Member States and regional and local authorities, including representatives from managing and audit authorities, discussed the challenges and proposals for simplification.
A summary report including proposals for simplification as well as additional background information can be found in the document section of this page. For more information please contact us.
